Who We Are

History:

LOT 2545 began in November 2011, but did not officially open its home in Kampala, Uganda until January 2012.  It started with 8 boys and wanting to give them a future.  We began by bringing them off the streets, into our home, and enrolling them in school.  We have quickly grown to help 21 boys; 4 of which have been resettled with their families.

Meet our board of Directors:

Amanda Jones
Amanda Jones is the founder of LOT 2545.  After spending 10 months in Uganda from November 2010-September 2011, she realized God’s calling in her life to help older street boys.  As a result, Amanda returned to the US to begin the paperwork needed to establish LOT 2545.  Before her time in Uganda, she taught high school Spanish for 2 years.  She was raised in South Bend, Indiana and attended Indiana University South Bend for both undergraduate and graduate work.  She graduated in May 2010 with a M.S. in secondary education.

Cara Murray

Cara Murray lives in Chicago, IL where she is a Director for By The Hand Club For Kids, an after-school program for children living in some of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods.  Prior to working for By The Hand, Cara spent two years working along the side of Amanda Jones and others in Uganda.  During her time in Uganda Cara served in a variety of areas, including working with children living on the streets of Kampala.  Her heart continues to love and serve the children in Uganda and is excited to be a part of the board of directors for LOT 2545.
Christina Paul
Chrissy Paul grew up with Amanda Jones in South Bend, Indiana and has kept in touch through all of Amanda’s adventures in Uganda.  Because she has boys of her own, she has a heart for the street boys Amanda is helping in Kampala.  She lives in Medford, Oregon with her two little boys Adam, 5 and Connor, 2 and works as a medical biller.
Gina Orr
Gina Rizzo-Orr lived and worked with Amanda Jones, the founder of Lot 2545, for over a year in Uganda.  The events in her life that have had the biggest impact on her have been:  coming to faith in Christ later in life, being in the Peace Corps, working on the Navajo Reservation, being a children’s pastor, being a teacher, and walking with her husband through terminal cancer.  She currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona working as a Direct Support Professional in the bi-lingual area.  She has 3 grown children and two grandchildren.  She is honored to be a board member of Lot2545.
Steven Twinomugisha
Steven Twinomugisha was born in Kampala, Uganda.   He grew up in the Kivulu slum in downtown Kampala and attended Wandegeya primary & nursery school.   He was able to complete secondary school by doing chores for people at school.  Steven was introduced to Jesus when he attended a small church in Katanga, another slum in Kampala.   He began ministry work at that church by going door to door.  He is the first born out of five children, two boys and two girls on his father’s side but has other sisters on his mother’s side.   He attended Makerere University and completed with a Bachelors’ degree in social science.  He is happy to be working with children to help them come from a bad and hard life to a better one as they get to know God.  He believes that social work extends far beyond his discipline of study to a passion.  He enjoys reaching out to the disadvantaged and vulnerable people in society because he realizes that they deserve love and care also, and he wants to help them to learn to love and obey the Lord.
Valerie Dodgson
Valerie Dodgson lives in Berkeley, IL.  She met Amanda Jones on a mission trip to Uganda.    She attended Word of Life Bible Institute of Schroon Lake, NY.  She has spent a lot of time working in inner city Chicago and New York City with kids. Right out of high school, Val worked in a Christian institution/foster home and was the Sunday School superintendent at a predominantly African-American church. She has taught Sunday School most of her adult life.  As a teen, she was a camp counselor every summer. She loves interacting with kids- especially primary age.  Currently, she work as a administrative assistant for the Village of Oak Park- Building and Property Standards Dept.  Val lived in Saudi Arabia for a year and that is where she met her husband.  She has also traveled to:  Israel, England, Scotland, Switzerland, and Costa Rica.  She is excited to be a part of LOT 2545 and hopes to be able to return to Uganda soon to see all of the boys again.
